蒂娜5歲時跟著祖母從墨西哥移民到紐約，試圖尋求更好的生活。如今，兩人各自面對不同的生命課題，祖母想著要回歸家鄉，身為跨性別女性的蒂娜則不斷摸索，試著為自己找一個歸屬。然而，當膚色與性別成了阻礙，讓他得面臨種種歧視，蒂娜該如何打破這道界限，重新定義自我？
